""People think of ghosts as haunting, but it's the other way around. You all haunt me." I received a copy of I Liked My Life in exchange for an honest review. I admit that I was hesitant to accept because this book is a little outside of my comfort zone, but I ended up really enjoying it. This book has a lot of heart. It's very easy to get wrapped up in the story & connect with these characters. I liked Eve a lot - the changes she goes through & the way she handles things were relatable for me. This book reminded me of the Mary Alice storyline of Desperate Housewives, and I really enjoyed this aspect of the book. I'm actually currently watching Desperate Housewives because the book made me think about it so much. Some parts of this book were painful to read. It felt too real, and it did make me a little anxious, but I knew that was going to happen going in. This book deals with some stressful topics, but everything is handled well. The synopsis of the book makes it sound like it's more about romance than it actually is. I Liked My Life is really more about family, grief, and change. I was expecting more fluff than there actually was, and I'm happy I was wrong. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, but I still liked the book very much. I'm not sure how I would have wanted it to go instead, but I guess everything just felt like it was wrapped up a little too cleanly. That may just be me, though. "Despite some misogynistic themes and ideas, the story was interesting and thought provoking. I found myself wanting to tell my mom just how much she is appreciated as well, how blessed we are to have her, etc. Although the ending was wrapped up rather quickly, I liked that most characters got an ending as well…I loved the message: there are still good times to be had. "
