"It took me a while to get into this one, but once I did it was a pretty good book! The jump from Greek to Norse mythology is probably why I took so long to get into it (I'd just finished both Percy Jackson series when I first started this book.) I absolutely loved Magnus, his sense of humor is amazing, he was such a fun narrator! Can't wait to see where Uncle Rick takes this series!"
"There were minor details and tropes that limit the rating I give. However, seeing as this is the first in the series, I'm holding up hope that it gets a little better for me.
Partially my issue is the jump in mythology, and partially time. When this book came out I wasn't a kid anymore and didn't invest some level of nostalgia for the characters and their world. Which isn't fair to this series alone.
That said I'm jumping to the second one with a lot of hope. "
