"Peter and the Starcatchers is a lightly Peter Pan-influenced adventure at sea, made better by the excellent narration of Jim Dale. As with a lot of Middle Grade, the focus is on the action and humor here. A chunk of that humor comes from gross moments, which are not my cup of tea. However, I’ve definitely read much worse. The narration jumps around to different sets of characters quite often in order to follow all of the action, and I would’ve preferred more time with the main characters because every moment with Peter and Molly was witty and engaging. I also really enjoyed the Starcatchers lore as it started to be explained and Molly’s adorable chats (and miscommunication) with the porpoises. The ending leaves us with a clever yet familiar setup for Peter’s future adventures, and while I don’t exactly see myself rushing into the next book, I am at least still curious.

(3.5)"
"One of my favorite Peter Pan reimaginings."

"I really enjoyed this story. I admit that one of the main reasons I wanted to listen to this audiobook was because of the play adaptation. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the stage production, but I have heard a lot about it, and really liked what I heard. When this book was available from the Audiobook Sync website this summer, I immediately knew I wanted to download it.

Peter Pan was never my favorite story or movie growing up, but I have always liked it. It's fun and magical and exciting. This prequel was no different. I enjoyed getting to know the back story of the characters we know so well. Part of what made this even more exciting was the wonderful Jim Dale. He really helped bring the story to life. What they say is true; I didn't want to stop listening to this book, I wanted to just sit and listen all day long. I really look forward to the other books in this series. Thank goodness my library had them all!"
