Pride and Prejudice goes Hollywood in this winning romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s classic. In her teen fiction debut, the author of Knitting Under the Influence goes back to high school for a tale of sisters, misinformation, and star-crossed love. Will Elise’s love life be an epic win or an epic fail?At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point: As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school—not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects. As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn’t exactly on everyone’s must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list. When Elise’s beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince’s best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long.

"Sadly, I can't rate this any higher than 5 stars, but I would in a heart beat! Such an incredible read. Modeled in the way of Jane Austen, it was such a charming, heart warming retelling of a modern Pride and Prejudice. Once I got the reference, I saw it everywhere. And not in a bad way, as it didn't stick too closely to the original to be boring, but enough to make for such a fantastic story. I loved it! I thought it was completely well done and more down to earth than some of the other modern versions of Pride and Prejudice.

It was just so hard to put down, I was completely engulfed in the book that I was unaware of reality all around me. I was so wrapped up in it, when it was done, I was actually sad that there wasn't more to get lost in! Very little would have been able to rip me from this book.

What of the things I loved was the conflicting opinions all around Elise about Derek. Some wanted her to get close to him because of his parents, some wanted her to not to get close to him because of his parents, some just wanted to catch part of the waves in her wake, while others were worried she was falling down a rabbits hole. It was so tastefully done, it wasn't too much and it wasn't something that end up feeling fake.

I was able to connect with Elise and I loved that. Loved the character. Her family dynamic was so fun to read about. Her bratty sister, Layla, was always great for causing problems. It really made sense for Elise to be the way she was when introduced to her family.

This is definitely one of the best reads of the year for me. It's definitely a book that everyone should check out. Just one amazing book that definitely needs to be read. Preferably locked in a room where you can get lost in the pages without all those things that interrupt reading!"
