A woman awoken in air, a soldier forged by fire, a weapon risen from blood. Vhalla Yarl has made it to the warfront in the North. Forged by blood and fire, she has steeled her heart for the final battle of the Solaris Empire's conquest. The choices before Vhalla are no longer servitude or freedom, they are servitude or death. The stakes have never been higher as the Emperor maintains his iron grip on her fate, holding everything Vhalla still has left to lose in the balance. "this was a big freaking disappointment. the whole daniel thing was so annoying. this book reminded me of why i despise love triangles. i don't get how we are supposed to like a bunch of colonizers. this was a problem in the last book, but it got way worse in this one. i keep waiting for them to turn on the emperor and like fight with the north or something, but they are literally just oppressors like that is not okay. i'm cool with morally grey characters, but i don't think the book has the right tone for that. she made me fall out of love with aldric which is sad since he was one of my favorite love interests ever in the first book. i don't find ****-shaming attractive in a love interest..... all the conflict in this book didn't have much depth to it. i don't think i'd ever have this complaint in a book because I'm a BIG romance fan like the more romance-heavy a book is the better it is to me usually, but i was wishing there was LESS romance. i don't know i think the book would have been a lot more interesting if there was more plot around the war and some of the fantasy elements in the world building or developing the very likable side characters. i don't know if i want to continue the series which is sad."
