"I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't impressed at first. The plot was slow which made the violence seem very gratuitous. But the plot thickens and the intrigue got me hooked! Devoured last last 2/3rds of the book and excited to start #2! "

"Many people will like this book I'm sure but early on its very graphic and depicts sexual abuse. While I understand, given the setting, that is probably realistic it wasn't readable for me. So for anyone who would be uncomfortable reading something like that I wouldn't recommend it. I have to put it down after a few chapters."

"5/5 loved this so much. I love the characters and the plot was just complicated enough for it not to get overwhelming but also not predictable. "

"This is well written with plenty of violence and bad language. Absolutely loved the no holds barred, full barrell approach here. "

"Read this book a few years back and to this day, I remember the scene of the inspiring speech one of the characters did and still hold it close and can picture to this day. Amazing writing, honestly. "

"This has been a family members favorite book for yearssss so A friend and I gave it a try. Neither of us enjoyed the read. We both be found the plot and characters to be a bit forced, unrealistic, cliche and two demential. Perhaps I could be a bit bias because this isn’t a sub genre I’d usually go for, but I feel like the author took lazy liberties when creating the general dark and edgy feeling and themes in the universe. The author seemed to add content merely for shock factor rather than to push the story forward. Most characters and their motives came off as being dramatic and/or silly. I didn’t like a single character. Waste of a few hours of my life. #dontreadthis #badbook #brentweeks"
