"This part picture, part written book was enjoyable, especially in its attention to how people experience deafness, blurring the lines between writing and speech. Most of the drawings were beautiful, but I found it strange that the little girl looked very old in some instances (perhaps on purpose). From reading this and Hugo, it's clear that Selznick is great at providing disjointed pieces of the puzzle at the beginning and weaving them together throughout the story. It's a formula, but not a bad one. Finally, I know it's only a story but my cynical side is making me say that we usually cannot find out all the answers we seek after a loved one dies."
