Trish Doller’s The Suite Spot is a charming romance novel about taking a chance on a new life and a new love.Rachel Beck has hit a brick wall. She’s a single mom, still living at home and trying to keep a dying relationship alive. Aside from her daughter, the one bright light in Rachel’s life is her job as the night reservations manager at a luxury hotel in Miami Beach—until the night she is fired for something she didn’t do.On impulse, Rachel inquires about a management position at a brewery hotel on an island in Lake Erie called Kelleys Island. When she’s offered the job, Rachel packs up her daughter and makes the cross country move. What she finds on Kelleys Island is Mason, a handsome, moody man who knows everything about brewing beer and nothing about running a hotel. Especially one that’s barely more than foundation and studs. It’s not the job Rachel was looking for, but Mason offers her a chance to help build a hotel—and rebuild her own life—from the ground up.

"So we met the protagonist Rachel in Float Plan. To me she was just a rude sister turned understanding. Not sure I would have read a book about her from what little I gathered. Still, it was interesting to see her pov and the reasons behind her actions.

Also, I understand there should be content warnings in every book but reading these gave away key things in the story. Maybe it should be put in the back or if all editors put them in the book to begin with I would have not read it in the first place.

So I'll start with the things I liked. The book started well. Even though I knew she would accept the job my heart still stuttered when she was asked. I like when romances don't include duel povs sometimes because I like the mystery of it. The new-to-town trope is always a delight too since as a reader you get to explore the town with them.

Unfortunately, I didn't feel Mason and Rachel's connection. And as always the dialog started to get corny. The writing was not terrible it was just too vanilla. Very predictable and cute and everything worked out. Easy peasy. I wanted something more. Maybe passion or anger or anything to spike my blood."
"2.5
I will say I did not like this as much as “Float Plan”. I did still enjoy it though! I like that the “problems” in the relationship stem from personal issues the characters need to come to terms with, rather than communication issues. I also think it’s cool how the MC is plus-sized and a single mom, but that isn’t her entire identity. My only gripes were that the beginning was a little stereotypical/predictable (like, I understand it happens, but it felt like it happened only for the sake of driving the plot, rather than feeing like something that the character grew from?). Also, I wasn’t a fan of the final conflict in the last 30 pages. I’m glad they addressed it, but I felt like the characters initial response to “resolve” it was a little extreme, and also like it came to a resolution with very little work on the characters’ parts. I still overall like the book though! Love the way the author writes friendships."
