The angel of death wants me to be his wife. Most days, I steal from ships to earn a living. Not glamorous, admittedly, but it's honest work. Okay, fine. It isn't honest either, but it means I get to eat.But my simple life of pilfering is disrupted one night in the most shocking way: a sinfully sexy angel strides into my favorite dance hall. He compels me to work for him in Castle Hades. It isn't just work, though. He wants me to be his wife. Apparently, his prophetic dreams told him I'd help him become king.Problem is, he's a tyrant with blood on his hands. If I say no to him, I could end up dead. So even if he is lethally beautiful, I want out of his dark palace. Too bad the only way to kill an angel is to seduce him. And the sensual charms of the fallen will make it hard to stay on task. But this is a battle, and he's my beautiful enemy. We are fighting with weapons of desire, and we're both at risk of losing ourselves in this war.

"Apparently, I waited too long to write this review. But it did make me realize one thing. That this book was forgettable. I read The Serpent and the Wings of Night right afterward and it was very easy to get them mixed up. Wings, fighting, romance. Most of the story in those three words.

You can tell sometimes just with the cover that these books are low-budget or self-published. I try not to let it detour me. I've read some really lovely and fun tales but they are few and far between. My point is with these stories you get a lot of repetition and undeveloped worlds. The history depth was lacking and besides Count Saklas, there was little to no character development.

At the end of book one, I realized this was mostly a setup for bigger things. But I am petty and I refuse to buy the second book when I wasn't given enough to interest me in the first. Still, the atmosphere was dark and intriguing. The spicy scenes were well-placed and veeeery nicely done. That is probably the only reason for the third star. Also, Count Saklas and his commander's character development shined over the rest of the story."
"DNF 50%
I hate DNFing but I can't stand the FMC.
I am sure a lot of people enjoy the quirky constant asking questions thing the MC has going but I am just so annoyed.
I don't understand the motives of her either. Why sneak out of her room to look at an empty tower? She knew there weren't any bodies, what did she think she would find that could help her?
So much risk for minimal reward.

And that all the other characters are ok with her constant asking about everything... I wouldn't expect an immortal being to just be ok about nonsense like that. Just be quiet for a minute and let others talk. The world doesn't resolve around you..

2* because the cover is amazing and the story itself sounds promising.. just not with that MC"
"Be sure you read the sequel titled Rapture. The 3rd book comes out later this month. I can’t wait!"
