"•MAJOR SPOILER WARNING• 4.5 Even though this book is not quite 5 stars like the first book I still throughly enjoyed it, however the second book just didn’t leave me with the same adrenaline after effect the first book did. Now on a different note, WOW just WOW. I can’t believe that all just happened. I feel so bad for Rin. She had been through so freaking much and now she will only have use of one hand. This actually ****** me off to much. Whenever she FINALLY overcomes an obstacle, another one if thrown at her. Nezha being so open and sincere with Rin and then BETRAYING HER!!! OMG, I was so heartbroken and upset. This book had definitely left me in pain and at this point I don’t think there is any small slither of hope left for a happy ending. I just don’t think happy exists in this series. Really nobody is safe from dying. The author 100% proved that at the end. I was devastated about everyone (ofc) but especially Ramsa. "
"This trilogy is going to give me an ulcer. Uggggggghhhhh! Okay, so it is very contradicting following a leader who is scared and honestly not fit to lead. A drug addict not in control of their own mind. I was often angered by Rin but this was new to me and I liked it in my own self-destructive way. Contradicting because Rin is the main character and in a normal literary world they are liked, loved, and followed. Usually doing the right thing.
Rin was just like watching a fire grow bigger until there was nothing you could do except watch everything burn. I didn’t always believe in her choices but sometimes found no alternatives. And in the end, how was she any different from Daji? Still, I admired her perseverance. Rin was just far too human for this fictional world and I wasn't prepared for it. I forced myself to read at times because I didn’t know what she would do but I wanted to find out.
There was so much back and forth I had to put the book down constantly so I didn’t stress myself out. 100% gaslighting me and I for sure lost sleep over this mess. Enemies kept multiplying. Every time you got a reprieve someone shoved a missile down your throat. The stress was unreal but the world was so believable. War is messy every side does horrible things and books tend to forget that. *Whew* But not this one.
Ramsa you were my only shining light in this bleak landscape of torture. What a short bundle of joy you are. I have no idea what is going to happen or how this will end but I have to push through and finish before my brain implodes.
-----Quotes-----
"Oh, dear," Baji said as she approached. "Who made you cry?
"Nezha," she mumbled. "I don't want to talk about it."
Ramsa clicked his tongue. "Ah, boy trouble?"
She sat down in between them. "Shut up."
Want me to do something about it? Put a missile in his toilet?
She managed a smile. "Please don't."
She made flames trickle up her arms, delighting in how their intricate patterns were reflected in the blue-green light"
