What are everyone’s thoughts on them creating a Back To The Future 4? (And with Tom Holland) I didn’t grow up when the original movies came out but I did grow up watching the movies because my parents introduced them to me. I just feel like they should eventually stop messing with original movies and just create something new. The third Back To the Future wasn’t even the best the story was so drawn out and far from the other two. So I dont know what to think about this.

Brandon Reed It's a problem, and it's indicative of a larger problem relating to the intersection of business and art.

James Neumann I actually like the third BttF movie quite a lot. The trilogy is damn near perfect. But I don't think we need a 4th. I know exactly how the sequel would go, too. They would make a time machine... out of a Cybertruck? And it won't have the magic of Lloyd as Doc Brown or Fox as Marty. They'll make some topical jokes about the 90s or 2000s, and briefly travel to the future at some point just to show off the wacky shiny future. The once-iconic score will be copied mediocrely at best, copying the original too often and poorly imitating it elsewhere, with like 1 track in a random scene that is actually good. And there will be fan service scenes, like the original actor for Biff will show up as old Biff or something like that. And Hollywood reporters interview Crispin Glover again about why he never returned, and maybe he will for this. Idk. It's all the same with every reboot from the 80s. Jurassic Park, The Matrix, Terminator, whatever. They keep trying to catch lightning in a bottle again and again, and unfortunately the lightning already struck the clocktower in 1955. They already made BttF 4, and it was a video game. Just like Ghostbusters 3. I don't see a need, and I don't need to see it.

James Neumann That's not to say I hate all sequels. I'm sick of reboots though. I would much rather see something original, or see a sequel that just takes place in the same universe as the older original story, without just retelling the exact same story beats again.

Cheyenne Absher Exactly it seems like that is happening a lot more often and they’ve run out of original ideas

Maggie Hollywood should just come up with an original idea and stop recycling story lines that have already been done

Rori Rodriguez I love Tom Holland, I love the BTTF series, but think they can be kept separate. I think we need to wait longer (if not, forever) before redoing franchises like that. Take Ghost Busters for example, some people like the sequels but only bc they introduce new characters as legacy to others. Even then, there's plenty of controversy. BTTF cannot be duplicated at the quality of the original or better and thus, we should stay away for a while longer
