Jenny Brown The earliest story idea for the film wasn't even titled star wars but the journal of whills which would have served as a storytelling device in the form of a journal

Jenny Brown At some point the whole series was supposed to have a framing story with r2 d2 the last surviving member of the main cast telling an advanced future race the whills about the fall of the republic and the rise and defeat of the empire this may have been inspired by Alejandro jodorowsky who was trying to adapt the novel dune at the time which also inspired lucas

lyzander cross Supposedly the story is still as if r2 d2 were telling it even though we aren't told about that... Apparently that's why r2 does so many cool and important things throughout the story, r2 is embellishing its own role

Jenny Brown Lucas concept of the force was not as black and white as it turned out in the movies originally jedi and sith used both light and dark sides of the force telekinesis is a dark side power and jedi who use it to much will become imbalanced if a jedi constantly imposes there will on the force and never allows themselves to be controlled buy it massive imbalance will result

lyzander cross This sounds deeply intriguing I wish I could see a version with this concept intact

Jenny Brown The sith and the jedi would have been rival clans who saw the force in different ways and the sith were not really evil in the story and the evil would have come from the inhumanity of the empire and its bureaucratics

Jenny Brown The script had a multitude of rewrites during the days that it was still called the journal of whills those changes were the plot would center around a jedi-bendu by the name of mace windy and his apprentice c.2. "Chuiee" Thorpe windy would have been a warlord for a alliance of independent systems but was kicked out because his peers believed he was too powerful after which he and Thorpe found themselves involved in a mysterious mission
