"Let me start off by saying it is a complex movie you need to sit down and watch. This isnt something you can simply put on as background noise. It needs to have your attention so youll want to finish it. Now for the review. It started a franchise that has survived for years and still remains stable in our society and pop culture. That's something for a movie that debuted in 1977. To say it's not only a classic but something of a masterpiece would be a lie. That's not to say it's without fault, which it has quite a few of, but it stuck around and impacted millions if not billions of people. Star Wars is a staple in our societal customs and expectations in movies. It helped show the world people are willing to have complex stories thrown at them and still have a great time watching them. It helped pave the way so movies like the MCU, Avatar, Jurassic Park, and Transformers could occur which then paved the way even further for even greater movies. There's a reason this kind of movie not only survived but sparked prequels, sequels, TV shows, spin offs, plays, heck they even had star wars on ice for a while. As much as I don't watch it like I did when I was a kid, or probably ever will watch it again, it started us down a great path into movie history. That fact can't be shaken. So it clearly has a lot of merit and backing that nobody can diminish. It will never be my favorite of the entire franchise, but I'm grateful for what it started. Movie makers truly put effort into making fantasy films worth watching thanks to this coming out. Quality began to skyrocket all due to seeing how people can react to such a (at the time) mind blowing movie. The fact that people today will fight to their dying breath for this.movke speaks volumes, even if I would rather watch something else. "
