A provocative legal drama focused on young associates at a bare-bones Boston firm and their scrappy boss, Bobby Donnell. The show's forte is its storylines about “people who walk a moral tightrope.”

"I have a real problem with the characters on this program, which I'll state shortly. Yet I give this show 4 stars because I'm completely addicted to it. I love the cases even though some of them are ridiculous. It's just very intriguing.
Now. As for the characters, there are only three that are actually decent people: Jimmy, Rebecca, & Lucy. The rest are reprehensible. The DAs, judges, & criminal lawyers are all pretty despicable. They fight to win, not for any moral reasons. Then they'll show a character showing contrition for their actions, I suspect so we'll continue to watch a show full of hateful people. They show us they do have redeeming qualities, only to have them go back to their self-serving actions in the next episode. You don't start out hating these people but as the episodes & seasons go on, you can't help but start to despise them.
I'm currently on season 4, episode 18 & there are a total of 8 seasons. As I said, I'm quite addicted to the show so I will watch the entire series & then watch Boston Legal, the spin-off, which I'm sure will have even more disgusting characters because the lead actors are James Spader & William Shatner playing lawyers and they are known for playing sleezy characters, Spader more than Shatner. & since the lawyers are pretty nasty on The Practice, it seems quite plausible that the spin-off will as well. I, personally, can't stand lawyers & I think I'd be hard pressed to find a decent, ethical one that isn't charging your first born daughter because they're almost all just in it for the money, power, & status.
& yet, I love watching law shows. I'd just like to find one where the lawyers are actually good people. (This is my first time watching The Practice but I'm also rewatching 🖤Ally McBeal [watched when it aired in the late '90s/early '00s], which is in the same "universe" as The Practice & had a crossover event, as well as characters guest starring on the others' shows.)
Please suggest shows with ethical lawyers!"
