Tricia said This one by Jodi Picoult was published 20 years ago but is relevant as ever. Intriguing peek into the Amish world. I actually emailed the author after finishing it and she responded!

Tricia said While published in 2004, this book is as relevant, gripping and emotional now as it was 15+ years ago. Jodi Picoult does not disappoint and delivers an amazing story of love, courage and heartbreak. This one will stick with me for a long long time.

Tricia said This has been on my ‘to read’ list for months but is especially relevant and powerful in June of 2020 as the country is experiencing massive unrest as the result of racial injustice. This is a complicated and difficult memoir, but so very important.

Tricia said Read this after watching the series on Hulu. In some ways, felt like a different story. Loved how she unpacked the many layers of motherhood.

Tricia said This book was hard. It was powerful. Not a happy ending but I’m not sure what a happy ending would have been. Eye opening and thought provoking (and I do know the controversy around the book).

Tricia said Based on a true story, this book was an eye opening story about the transition of orphanages to mental hospitals in Canada in the 1950’s. As someone who is adopted, the story of an unwed mother being forced to give up her child and that child’s longing to know more about her biological mother was especially emotional and powerful.

Tricia said I wasn’t sure about this at first but ended up loving it, despite and ‘ending’ that wasn’t really an ending. A sweet story of love, longing and searching for truth.

Tricia said Read this after a friend recommended. Quick easy read and a good reminder that what we say matters.
