"An accurate adaptation of the book. If you'd like to watch it without having read the book, just know that it's a bit of a downer but nonetheless profound. The direction of the strawberry scene seems like the most realistic when compared to that of the 1979 (which was directed by an alleged pedophile) and 2008 versions, which are much more erotic and male-gazey. In this version, Tess' discomfort with the situation is more obvious. "
