"Aladdin was one of my fave animated movies as a kid. I really enjoyed seeing it as a live-action. There are obvious differences and a bit of modern flare, but overall would watch again. "

"It’s just not good. I tried to give it a second chance but it’s so cringy. Everything is rushed and forced it makes me feel uncomfortable. Take the meetcute; it happens instantly. No lead up, no short introduction of the characters. Like why should we care about them? And with a runtime over 2 hours, I don’t understand what the rush is. The songs and story is changed so much. It’s not like I’m wanting a shot for shot remake of the animated version (The Lion King essentially did that and it seemed pointless), but since they put no effort into the characters, essentially banking on your familiarity with them from the original, I feel sort of cheated. Beauty and the Beast struck a nice balance between staying true to the original and updating it to justify its existence. It managed to add more depth to characters we know and love."

"While no one can live up to Robin Williams as the Genie, Will Smith did his best and performed quite well on his own. Not a huge fan of the new song, but Naomi sang it very well. I don’t think I’d ever watch this one over the original, but still a decent film. 6/10"
