"An inspiring true story about a disabled dolphin and how it survived a tragedy.
Seeing Winter play herself in this movie brings a lot of emotion and jusf incredible shots. It's incredible.
The movie showcases Winters story in such a great way. Of course its not her actual story, as they added in the character Sawyer for theatrical effect, but they did it in a great way. I love the other characters as well as the way they progress things. It feels real which only enhances the experience.
That leads into the only complaint I have about this movie. I constantly wonder while I watch if Phoebe is supposed to be the real-life Sawyer. You can tell she's some sort of handler to Winter in real life. I wanted some sort of acknowledgememt to Winters real life helpers, handlers, & the ones who got Winter where she is. I get that a lot of people were involved in her rescue & rehabilitation, but having a group photo of some kind added to the end of the movie would be nice. They could've included it with the video at the end with a list of everyone's names to give them some sort of credit for the amazing work they did. Sure, cinematically, it's not pleasing, but it's more satisfying for the viewers in all kinds of ways.
When it ends, you don't expect it to, but in a good way. The story finishes because the story of Winter is finished there. It's not that the story isn't wrapped up, but due to the nature of the film, you're not prepared to be done. It's a great ending, but you just want more. Luckily, there is a sequel that helps quench that.
The best idea they ever had was adding in that actual footage of Winters real rescue. It makes everything so much more satisfying. It gives you the ending you didn't know you wanted & is more moving than the rest of the movie after seeing her story play out. That's not a bash on the movie itself, it's me applauding them for telling this story than hitting you right in the heart with the actual footage at the end. Well done."
