"I love this film. Maybe it has to do with my appreciation for ambiguous cinema — cinema that you can re-visit throughout your entire life, each time in an attempt to gain a better understanding of the film — or maybe it has to do with the fact that Enemy doesn't pull any punches. Contemporary cinema, especially in the psychological thriller genre, has conditioned us to expect twist endings and thorough explanations, especially when you're watching a film like this. I was so glad that Denis Villeneuve didn't make the mistake of playing into what was expected of him. Enemy could have ended a thousand different ways, but it ended the way that it did for a reason: those of you who have seen it, consider the phrase, "the elephant in the room," and maybe that will help you find your own interpretation. The important thing is that Villeneuve has crafted a film which allows for his audience to find their own interpretation, and I appreciate that immensely. The direction, the acting, the cinematography, the editing, the script — I couldn't have asked for better pieces of a perfect puzzle."
"I liked the mystery and hidden story of the film. Let's be clear, I didn't understand sh😃t when watching. I had to watch an explaining video from Chris Stuckmann for it to make sens. And now it does make sens and I really enjoy the cryptic, elements and metaphore connecting to the uncontious after the fact but.... I really did not enjoy the ride. I didn't like the colour balance, the rythm wasn't enjoyable. I found myself checking how many minutes were remaining in the movie several time. Half of the movie is Jake Gyllenhaal sitting with his hand in his face. I do understand the movie is about his struggles. It just wasn't fun or captivating enough. I do recommand watching it... but all the time when I watch a Villeneuve movie, I think to myself : wow that's a great, beautiful shot and I am mesmerized... It didn't happen once in this movie. Maybe some art is meant to be unenjoyable... It don't know. I expect a second watch to be more enjoyable. In a couple or years..."
