Stuart Turton puts on a masterclass on how to effectively use figurative language to enhance setting and mood. It's like a little dose of serotonin that urges you to keep reading. However, there are a few chapters where he goes a bit overboard in his descriptions - especially of one particular character, whose descriptions are almost entirely focused on his weight. It was enough to distract, but still enjoyed the book as a whole.

Tragic but intriguing read. I was 13 at the time of the Columbine shootings and I remember the media coverage well. This book helps to re-contextualize one of the major news events that shaped my childhood.
