Tobias D. H. Crichton

This is a great progression for Andy Weir. The concept pushes the limits of 'hard' sci-fi while still employing some very imaginative concepts and exploring them through real scientific principals. While it necessarily has to play pretty fast and loose with some aspects of the story, it does a good job of providing reasonable backstory on the main character, and develops the character well over the course of the story. It does get a little bit bogged down by technical exposition in some parts.
