From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of One Day in December . . . When a double-booking at a remote one-room cabin accidentally throws two solace seekers together, it feels like a cruel twist of fate. But what if it’s fate of a different kind?“A perfectly executed and quintessential romantic comedy.”—Christina Lauren, author of The UnhoneymoonersSpending her thirtieth birthday alone is not what dating columnist Cleo Wilder wanted, but she plans a solo retreat―at the insistence of her boss―in the name of re-energizing herself and adding a new perspective to her column. The remote Irish island she’s booked is a far cry from London, but at least it’s a chance to hunker down in a luxury cabin and indulge in some self-care while she figures out the next steps in her love life and her career.Mack Sullivan is also looking forward to some time to himself. With his life in Boston deteriorating in ways he can’t bring himself to acknowledge, his soul-searching has brought him to the same Irish island to explore his roots and find some clarity. Unfortunately, a mix-up with the bookings means both have reserved the same one-room hideaway on exactly the same dates.Instantly at odds, Cleo and Mack don’t know how they’re going to manage until the next weekly ferry arrives. But as the days go by, they no longer seem to mind each other’s company quite as much as they thought they would.Written with Josie Silver’s signature charm, One Night on the Island explores the meaning of home, the joys of escape, and how the things we think we want are never the things we really need.

"I just couldn’t connect with the characters in this book. They were unnecessarily rude to each other in a large part of the book. I never felt the chemistry between them and their life circumstances don’t support any possible relationship. Also, what did they actually do every day on the Island?! I got through it, but can’t recommend it. "
"I was hooked from the beginning which I assumed I’d love this book given that One Day in December I also loved, but the ending of this book didn’t leave off like I would’ve hoped. The ending left many questions unanswered for me unfortunately. Otherwise a great book, Josie Silver is an amazing writer."
"there’s something so so special about this book. tbh it took me a bit of time to get sucked in but once I did whew! more than just a romcom - the found family, self love and heart it contains is incredible! it made me laugh, tore me apart and delicately stitched me back together - I really enjoyed this one"
"What a surprising story. Not at all what I had expected. I cried a little and laughed a whole bunch. Mostly I was just completely in love with all the characters!I so wanted to be part of their world, their community, their family. It’s the type of story that while you want to get to the finale, you really don’t want the story to end. Because for a little while I was on the island too and I didn’t want to ever leave. (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars)"
"Easy light read. The problem was it was a little too light and bland. You have the cliche new town trope. The main character finds friends and a new life from the big city. Still though a lot of indoor or repetitive activities. I didn't get a feel from the town and it's inhabitants.

To me the self marraige night was pretty corny. And to use Josie Silver's words a bit melodramatic, all of it, even the self love. The romance felt genuine up until they fell for one another. Maybe it was just that I didn't feel the time passing but it seemed too quick for my liking. Still I could sense the spark between them.

The narrators ruined the book for me. The American made everyone sound American the Brit made everyone sound British. To clarify there was one American, one Brit, and the rest of the Island is Irish. So that was..... something.

The ending dragged. We all knew where is was going so it felt like a waiting game."

"*SPOILER*
This was sadly a big disappointment! DNF’d and skimmed the ending after page 221. I absolutely love Josie Silver, her other 3 books were 5 star reads for me so I had high hopes for this one! I didn’t feel connected to the characters, it was extremely slow, the concept of marrying herself was just too talked about and boring, I literally don’t know how they end up together when they live in different countries and he has small kids.. a bit unrealistic. The idea of this book sounds so cozy and romantic but was such a letdown!"
