I enjoy a good coming of age story and this one didn’t disappoint. While Sam faces many challenges in his life, this book is centered around family, friendship, and faith and his relationships with each. At it’s heart it is a love story between a mother and her son. The power of a mothers love can make all the difference in a life as seen in the life of Sam Hill. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell
Books | Robert Dugoni
Try this one on audible and listen to Prince Harry tell his story himself. This is a brave attempt at taking control of his narrative which has been written for him most of his life. You can feel the love he has for his country and family and how he longs for things to be different. If you approach this book with an open heart and mind you will get a lot out of it. The ghostwriter is fantastic! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spare
Books | Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex
This was not the best book I’ve read, but something about it drew me in and kept me reading. If you want to read something different give this book a try. I liked the giraffes in the story more than the characters, however, and didn’t overly connect with any of them. The narrator comes across younger than the 17/18 year old he is. For the reviews I read of this I was really hoping to like it more than I did. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
West with Giraffes
Books | Lynda Rutledge
This rom-com was relatively formulaic and a very slow burn. If you like books with these cartoon images on the front then this is a good one to try. It is an easy, light-hearted break from heavier reads. While it isn’t my favorite in the genre, I liked it enough with my expectations in the right place for what I was getting out of it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The American Roommate Experiment
Books | Elena Armas
This book was good, but not great. I really enjoyed the premise of the story and it started off pretty strong. At times it began to go from mature young adult to more juvenile. Some of the drama and action fell flat in the second half of the story. I am debating on if I will read the next book in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
This Vicious Grace
Books | Emily Thiede
This is a quick read that keeps you interested and reading way past your bed time. Several times I thought that it is books like this one that could get non- readers reading.
The Last Thing He Told Me
Books | Laura Dave
I am unsure of how I feel about this one. In some ways I liked the idea of the story line and I did read it relatively quickly. There were many ways it failed for me, though. I never truly felt connected to the characters like I wanted to. The dramatic parts never got my heart racing. The second half got a little stronger than the first half, which kept me going. I am completely undecided as to whether I’ll read the second book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
A River Enchanted
Books | Rebecca Ross
Cute and heartwarming story about a tortured boy and reliable girl. There were a few times where I almost skimmed through the repetitive worries that Fox has, but thankfully there weren’t any “this problem could be solved with a little communication” moments. It’s slightly more than just a cupcake love story (sweet and satisfying) and I read it in less than 2 days. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hook, Line, and Sinker
Books | Tessa Bailey
This was a fascinating novel based on the true story of a Russian woman sniper fighting Germans in WWII. It was well written with good historic details and characters I wanted to read more about. I thoroughly enjoyed this one! So good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
