"I know, it's questionable but I read this book (and the other five in the Mortal Instruments Series) over the course of one summer when I was very young and I haven't read them again since. I still think they're worth reading but you might have to overlook some things (like the incest plot line that's not really incest but makes the romance a little icky). Take this recommendation with a grain of salt."
"Literally LOVED the entire series! "

"possibly the worst series in this whole shadowhunter world. there are other good series the author has done but this is not. problematic writing and toxic characters are filled in these six books. the story did not need to cover six books with the same toxic two characters who treat everyone as if they don’t matter. the show was the only reason I bought these books (for Malec.) but not a fan of this particular series. it could have been so much better. "Such an amazing fantasy world and it captivated me from the first page. I highly recommend this series and the following series set in the same world, The Infernal Devices, etc."

"A court of thorns and roses was what I read after this one"

"The Evernight series by Claudia Grey have the same supernatural and forbidden love elements, Fateful by Claudia Grey is also a good supernatural romance one-off book. An Ember in Ashes (cant remember the author rn) has more action and has the normal girl is actually really special and powerful trope like Mortal instruments with a little supernatural sprinkled in.
