“Every so often, a book comes along that takes you for a ride--now buckle up, because Amy Tintera has written it." —Courtney Summers, New York Times bestselling author of Sadie “Laugh-out-loud funny, thrilling and twisty..." —Liane Moriarty What if you thought you murdered your best friend? And if everyone else thought so too? And what if the truth doesn't matter? After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life. But now the phenomenally huge hit true crime podcast "Listen for the Lie," and its too-good looking host Ben Owens, have decided to investigate Savvy’s murder for the show’s second season. Lucy is forced to return to the place she vowed never to set foot in again to solve her friend’s murder, even if she is the one that did it. The truth is out there, if we just listen.

"4.25⭐️ Someone please adapt this book stat! A deliciously fun fast paced thriller that grabs hold and doesn’t let go. Loved the snarky MC, dark humor, all the slightly “off” characters and toxic family dynamics. This book is packed with sketchy behavior, bad decisions and unbelievable plot points .. and I was there for every second of it. It screams Netflix series .. and I need it to happen! Like now 😆"
"Listen to this as an audiobook, it was made for it!
Excellent mystery about a podcaster trying to solve a cold case about a woman whose best friend was murdered and she was the one found with blood covering her, yet she has no memory of it. Told with podcast cut ins. Really enjoyed it! Was guessing until the end."
"This was my March BOTM pick and I wasn’t necessarily super excited to read it (I just needed it to add other books into my cart for the month), but then I saw all of the hype surrounding this story. I wanted to be blown away by the plot and characters, but I found myself struggling to get through the first half of the book. I don’t love an amnesia trope, but eventually it grew on me. The things that didn’t- Lucy’s internal voice saying the same things over and over again, the way the narration style felt like an actor continuously breaking the 4th wall, and the nickname continuously used for the character of Savannah. Did we really need to pick the word Savvy for that? Was it meant to be a juxtaposition because it seemed like the character was everything but. I wished that there would have been more clues to help us figure out what actually happened instead of clues that pointed out who was lying about smaller details of the night like all the different affairs that were happening for example. Overall, I would rate this novel a 3.5/5⭐️, rounded down to a 3. There’s nothing wrong with the middle of the road (unless of course there’s a man in a truck blocking the way) and that’s where I would say this thriller falls for me. "
"4.5 ⭐️ This is my third podcast style audiobook and they are still super fun for me. I liked this one a lot because Lucy, the FMC, is dealing with amnesia due to a traumatic brain injury and the reveals during the podcast and in her regained memories felt well paced to me. I also appreciated that while it had its twists it didn’t feel forced, unbelievable, or too coincidental which can often happen in this genre of book. The only thing I didn’t quite understand was the voice in Lucy’s head. Perhaps it was a side effect of a traumatic experience, but it felt overused and got annoying to me. Overall, a book I didn’t want to stop listening to and completed in one day. "
"This book was good! It completely kept me guessing....I really really hate her parents though. Actually everyone in her life 😔"

"Enjoyable read. I was a little surprised at the ending.
I hated the podcast music so it should be a 4.5"
