"Read a lot of reviews that gave this book amazing review. Most said “instant classic”. I’d disagree with that. This book is a good book, but is lacking much to be named classic. However, the author does do a good job of placing you in the environment, and you do feel for the characters. Good book yes. A Tom Sawyer update? Nope. Not even close for me. "

"3.5 but I roundup because of the afterword by the author. My critique was that there wasn’t enough history in it and then on the afterword he explains all his research. I was surprised but it loved it. They are great characters and lots of character development throughout the novel but a some of it just seems so unrealistic. well written and engaging for sure"

"My first Krueger book and he has such a beautiful style of writing. Had me working through a number of emotions. For me, it’s the people they meet on their travels and how much they learn from each experience, regardless of it being a negative or positive encounter. I will easily read this again and again. I look forward to more of Krueger’s books. "
