"If you are on book tok at all (which I DEFINITELY am), you are at least somewhat familiar with ACOTAR, even if you haven’t read this. This being said, I knew quite a bit about the book series (mostly about the romantic relationships) without having ever picked up the novel, so I thought I had a pretty accurate idea of what to expect going in. I even thought that the hype wasn’t going to live up to the actual story. I was wrong. First of all, I LOVED Feyre. She was stubborn, strong, extremely independent and honestly, not as much of a Mary-Sue character as I thought she’d be. I was really anticipating a Bella Swan type personality, but she pleasantly surprised me. I also loved the juxtaposition of her being the youngest sister and the provider for her family. It made her so interesting right from the start. Now, for the love interests. I already knew going in that eventually I would hate Tamlin and love Rhysand throughout the course of the series, but would feel the opposite about them in this book but… Even if I hadn’t known this detail going in, I don’t think I would have been team Tamlin. He seemed TOO perfect and I didn’t feel the chemistry two people madly in love should have between him and Feyre. While I didn’t immediately like Rhysand (he did some real sketch things, especially at the beginning), he definitely intrigued me and I was eager to learn more about his character. His and Feyre’s chemistry was also obvious so I’m excited to see it develop into this die hard ship everyone loves. There’s really a lot to love about this book: the writing style, the complex world (a lot easier to understand than Crescent City), and the dynamic characters, and beauty and the beast-esque plot. It was all my cup of tea. Can’t wait to read the next book!"

"Wow. That was pretty spectacular. <br/><br/>This was a rendition of the Beauty and the Beast tale but it was unlike almost every one I have read before. The themes that were incorporated into the old story felt natural because of the way this new story progressed. The old folk tale really got a spectacular face lift. <br/><br/>The characters were quite fun to get to know. Each of them got their own character arc - which is not often incorporated in most stories I read. <br/>• I did like Feyre but she wasn’t my favorite character. She mainly was your stereotypical YA fantasy heroine and reminded me of Maas’s other main character. I liked that she had her weak moments and they were believable. <br/>• I really love Tamlin’s name!! It’s super charming.<br/>• Rhys was such an arrogant charmer but what happened in the last chapter NEEDS to be explained!! I found him a bit annoying but enjoyable at the same time. (If that makes sense.)<br/><br/>The world building overall was okay. I found it was hard to keep track of locations and their importance though. My other complaint was the on/off fast pacing. A lot of it was slow but I feel like there are hints in there for the sequels. <br/><br/>I was wondering what all the hype was about surrounding this book. Now I know."

"I put off starting this series because (1) wasn’t sure it would live up to the hype and (2) I HAVE TOO MANY series going. Spent this month catching up on four other series and then started ACOTAR. Great first book, romantasy - could not shake the Beauty and the Beast likeness at first but the story of human and faerie worlds colliding is well done and less and less Disney-like as the story develops. Feyre is a human, scrabbling by, when her life takes a dramatic turn and she finds herself living in the faerie world. Starting the second book now….."

"I decided to listen to this book on my audible app then reading it on my libby app. And I glad I did I would of gotten Bored just reading it and I enjoyed it better being read to me. At first I wasn't sure if I would finish it and dnf it, but I started liking it and finished the book and I can't wait to read the next book. Loved the romance between Feyre and Tamlin!!!!"

"I wouldn't recommend this for a 13-14 year old, maybe 16-17. I really liked the story. Tamlin and Fayre do become a couple, so they do hook up. It’s not very graphic, but it's worth mentioning."
