"This film expertly utilizes its sci-fi premise to make one of the great 70s post-Watergate paranoid thrillers. Sutherland brings a unique energy as the quirky, unconventional lead and he is supported by Brooke Adams, a young Jeff Goldblum and Leonard Nemoy (who gets to do something outside of his normal Star Trek persona). The film builds its tension really well and the last third has a palpable sense of desperation, as their predicament becomes more clear to them. Invasion of the Body Snatchers is generally classified as a horror/sci-fi movie but feels a lot more like 3 Days of the Condor or The Parallax View than it does The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The Exorcist.
4 out of 5 Stars"
