"This movie is soooo good. It’s such a great story. Based on a true events and a real person. When you have had such a **** childhood and come to be an angry adult, have to do therapy and then can come through to the other side? Phenomenal. It’s a really beautiful story. Yes there are sad parts but the ending is fantastic. Everyone in it is stupendous! And Derek Luke is just wonderful! Love his performance! If you have not seen this movie you MUST! It’s just, to me, a beautiful story and very uplifting. I hope you watch it! I highly recommend. Enjoy! "

"From A Mental Health Perspective [SPOILERS]: Antwone Fisher is the real life story of Antwone Fisher, a man who underwent counseling due to several violent anger outbursts that were tied to his negative childhood experiences. The film covers themes including anger management, abandonment problems, trauma, homelessness, and abuse (including SA). The film shows a healthy relationship between Antwone and his counselor, especially the scenes where Antwone and his counselor are conversing in a therapeutic environment. One flaw was a few scenes where the counselor/friend boundary felt like it was being crossed. That said, viewers should note that the movie does not accurately depict therapy at times (for example, you’re not going to spend thanksgiving with your therapists family). Despite this, the film is still a wonderful watch! It definitely destigmatizes mental health services, especially for those who are BIPOC, as most movies centered around mental health only focus on white characters. This film is one of my favorites and I encourage everyone to see this film!"
