The Fountain

"Aronofsky’s exploration of death as an act of creation is a topic I‘ve never before seen explored in this much detail in film. I certainly didn’t pick up on all of the imagery and philosophical themes, but it left me contemplating human existence, which I think was the goal.  The Fountain is an emotionally dense yet compact film. The fact that Aronofsky was able to tell a story that spans 3,000 years in just 96 minutes is wild."

"Just did a rewatch and I still love this film. The three storylines focus on mortality, love and loss. Visually stunning and heartbreaking. Interesting tidbit: Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett were originally supposed to star in this but I can’t imagine anyone but Jackman and Weisz in these roles. Plus we got Benjamin Button with Pitt and Blanchett later. Win/Win. "

So if you liked What Dreams May Come, you’ll like this one. And the effects are visually stunning, just like WDMC. Plus, it stars Hugh Freaking Jackman, so what’s not to like?"
