"I Saw the Devil can kinda be a hard watch at times just from the brutality of it and the long draw out revenge our main character does. That doesn’t mean the movie isn’t good to me that’s what this movie is all about the anger and resentment that goes into revenge, how sometimes you become just as bad as the person who has done you wrong to achieve it and if that’s worth it in the end. But it can be satisfying cause Choi Min-sik plays a very convincing piece of human garbage. If your willing to put up with all the brutal high jinx this movie has in store it’s worth the watch."
"Over ten years later, I watched this stellar movie again, having forgotten all the details. I was glued to my seat. Two talented actors, Lee Byung-hun and Choi Min-sik bookend this gruesome, bloody game of vengeance -- one of my all-time favorites from Korean cinema. Every bit as gruesome and triggering as I remember."
"i don’t hear enough people talk about this absolute legend of a thriller. it’s got everything a good horror/thriller should have- it’s gory, it’s tense, it’s a little sad, it’s satisfying, and it allows you to think deeper about right and wrong and the lengths someone can go to to stop evil. also the antagonist is psychotic and awful but you still find yourself interested in his scenes. at least i did haha. highly recommend.
