Luther: The Fallen Sun

"This is an excellent psychological thriller and mystery with our favorite "the world is grey" DCI Luther. It involves a series of unusual crimes that all seem to point back to Luther's last big case. As you would expect, the crimes are chilling. (As a warning, ⚠️ there are also recordings of people crying out in pain during a crime replayed during the course of the film that may be a trigger to viewers.) As dark as this film is, I admired seeing Idris Elba return to a role that fits him like a hand to a glove. The suspense in this film feels real, and the emotions of the wily villain is played well by the actor. During the storyline, his true sadist motives are revealed."

Plus, some fun action sequences, as well as engaging interplay between a few of the characters, helped keep things moving. "For those of us that are fans of the show we have been waiting for this for a long time...and it mostly delivers. For those unfamiliar Idirs plays a detective who has a gift of understanding serial killers...however he brings them to justice and disregards the law. So ultimately he is a dirty cop but he's good...so there are layers to his character. Those familer with show might be a little disappointed...this story was way more over the top with alot of cliches...while the series was more grounded and character driven. Good first attempt and I am looking forward to the next one...."
