"Wow. So very good... All those 5-star ratings I see here are WELL DESERVED in my opinion. This is also based on a true story, which is all the better. Hilary Swank is A+ in this, but all the actors were incredible as well. A good, quality movie that I would definitely recommend!! ๐"
"This movie was beautiful and even thatโs not doing it enough justice. Beautiful. I really canโt say it enough. What a meaningful, thought-provoking story that uplifts the spirits at the mere, stunning goodness that can come from within people. Just one act of outreach and kindness can make all the difference. Sharon is proof that miracles indeed do happen. Sheโs a struggling, everyday hairdresser whose vulnerable side comes tragically out amidst her over abuse of alcohol, but, boy, if she isnโt lovable. Sheโs the ultimate go-getter who makes all the hard phone calls and shows up in person in her best shoes and makeup if the situation requires it. Sheโs here and ready to help. Her newest project, which she pours all her love, dedication, and ambition into, is Ed, a father who canโt shoulder all the tragedy heโs coming up against in life. Like Sharon, he struggles too, but with other demons. He never stops living for this two daughters, though, one being critically ill and in need of a liver transplant. Theyโre his pride and joy, his reason. His greatest accomplishment.
This story, by the end, comes to be about the mess of reality and coming to terms with debilitating grief, as well as equally finding hope, really pockets of light in endless darkness. It pulled at my heart strings and made my soul sing because thereโs nothing Sharon canโt do if she genuinely puts her mind to it. She really is the definition of an ordinary angel who transforms everything around her into something better just by being present. Yet it is her past and relationship with her son that still haunts her to this day. She tries in any way she can to be a better woman. And what a gorgeous journey and emotional whirlwind this story is! Donโt miss it! "
"Ordinary Angels is a little too predictable, too long, and too sappy, but overall it's engaging with a good cast. Definitely wouldn't have been surprised if it were a Hallmark or Ion movie though. One thing I am glad of though is that they didn't make Sharon and Ed a couple - that was really a relief. Biggest casting surprise: Amy Acker as Ed's late wife. After the movie ended, one of the people in the group who enjoyed the movie for the most part was upset that "Sharon just steamrolled into Ed's and his kid's lives to help them. He should have stood up to her and not accepted her help." All I could think about after hearing that was that while Sharon is an alcoholic with her own problems but if that was the case, Ed and his family probably would have lost the house, everything they owned, and then the kid would have died if he tried to do everything on his own (at least at the rate he was going)! "
"Literally one of the best movies Iโve ever watched! So glad I saw this! So inspiring! You truly feel all of the emotions - sad, happy, angry, hopeful, etc! The characters are great, and played by excellent actors! It is so good to see the goodness of humanity and the power of community in a world where that is not always the case! I definitely would recommend this heart-wrenching true journey of a sick little girl, a broken father, and a ordinary women who became so much more! "
