"Day #20 of Spooktober I watched Donโt Move. It could have been way better if the writers were willing to take any risks..."

"Possibly some slight spoilers but...
...If you read the short synopsis of this movie, there really isn't much more to tell. That pretty much says it all. It's interesting watching the chain of events, but it basically begins and ends as you would imagine it would. I'm not going to tell you how that is, but I'm sure you already know. The movie wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Probably somewhere between acceptable and good.
I love Finn Wittrock, but he'll always be Dandy Mott to me. He was good in this, but I need to find something he's in where he's not a psycho. (I've noticed I've said "but" a lot so far...)
As for Kelsey Asbille Chow, who plays the protagonist, Iris... she was good. When you can't speak or move for a large portion of a movie, it's hard to get it wrong. I liked her sp/unk (funny they won't allow that word) and survival instincts. My only issue was her eyes. I know you can show expressions just using your eyes and since she was actually able to see and blink, I guess I was hoping for better oculesics. (Yes, I looked that word up. You should, too.) You can show fear by just widening your eyes but her eyes were always the same, mostly expressionless. Which brings up another point. If a drug paralyzes your entire body including your voice, wouldn't that include your eyelids as well?
Anyway, it wasn't a waste of time so no harm done. Also, apparently a lot of people liked it so I wouldn't be surprised if you did too. Rotten Tomatoes has it at 74% from 23 critics with an average rating of 6.2/10. Metacritic has the film scoring 54/100 based on 7 critics which signifies "mixed or average" reviews, which I would say probably is the best wording for my review. Mixed or average."
