"8/10 This is a classic and the only reason I’d never seen it was because I am terrified of sharks and the ocean. However, I was persuaded by my boyfriend to watch it anyway in attempts to get over that fear. Did it work? Absolutely not, but it was still really good! The pacing is kind of weird but the characters, score, practical effects, and cinematography are all excellent and it had some revolutionary concepts at the time of its release. For example, there is one shot where Martin is flipping through the pages of a book about shark, looking quite concerned, and the reflection of the pages is in his glasses but you can still see his expression. So randomly impressive and cool. Lots of love, innovation, and hard work put into this film. Also, the last 15 minutes were so intense, holey moley."
