"Spoilers here. I am probably in the the minority but Ti, what is this conclusion? You had more cash for music and bigger name actors but the journey was better than the destination in my drunk review. X and Pearl had the “X” factor. This started great but the full circle with pops and Maxine getting what she always wanted felt… Hollywood? Is that what I’m missing? If I’m watching the mediocre outcome of most movie stars then I get it. It’s not what I expected or wanted. The end is maybe too close to reality in it’s mediocrity. So here we are. I need another drink. "
"“MaXXXine” had that “it” factor and was a magnificent final installment of the X trilogy, taking place in richly atmospheric 1980’s Hollywood. Maxine Minx is boss at beating up bad guys and holding her own in every possible, even life-or-death, scenario. She’s the definition of a hardcore scream queen who isn’t afraid to put up a fearsome fight. She ventures full-force into the realm of acting in horror movies and sticks it to anyone who tests her. I thought it was iconic how she told everyone, from her hell-of-a-ride convertible, that they should just go home from a casting call because she nailed her audition. Her chef’s kiss confidence is magic and effortless and really demonstrates that you shouldn’t get on her bad side anytime soon for fear of facing her unspeakable wrath. She could, at any time, pounce and hunt you down, acting out with complete vengeful malice.
Most importantly, in her direct line of firing is a mysterious murderer on the nightly prowl, one Maxine is full-on ready to take on and handle. They stop at nothing to kill, just like her, as she becomes their most unrivaled threat that goes to show that two can play at this game. Maxine has to dig deep, unlocking the intricately layered mystery behind this particular killer while working to simultaneously understand their motives to outthink and outmaneuver them. I had a ball watching her be an entirely gutsy force to be reckoned with and I think you just may too! "
"I had high hopes going into this movie because I loved both X and Pearl, but unfortunately, I left the theater unenthused... I thought the gore and the acting was great! However, I felt that the people killed in this (besides the villains) were unnecessary kills. I also thought that the big reveal in the end was meant to be a big twist, but I sat there thinking, "really?". In my own opinion, I don't think this movie needed to be made for the franchise. I do think it's a good movie by itself though"
"Very enjoyable. Enjoyed the 80s look. Star studded with great performances. The kills were great too."

"“Maxxxine” following after “Pearl” and “X”, was not what I expected. Maxxxine is part of a trilogy so I was expecting it to go along with the 2 previous films. While it does still follow the storyline of a young woman wanting to become a movie star more than anything, I feel Ti West got it a little wrong. In the first Movie, “Pearl”, she ends up killing her mother and father. She is portrayed as being rather young and she is married. In the second film “X” she is a lot older, still married, but it is as if Pearl is telling the story as she recalls it through her remembrance (of herself). A group of **** stars are going to film on her and her husband property while staying there for a short time. Now we fast forward to “Maxxxine”, who is actually Pearl but a little older. She is still doing ****, but has just landed a real acting part in a horror film. In the end she ends up killing her father for a second time, who is not only a younger father than the father portrayed in “Pearl”, but looks completely different and is now somehow alive??? I think Ti West got too excited and did not stop to tie it all in together and make a precise timeline. Other than that, I think it was rather tense and engaging storyline. "
"Maxxxine is a pretty decent conclusion to the trilogy. It fills in the gaps about her background and answers those final questions about where this story was ultimately going. Mia Goth was good in the other 2 and that continues her. We follow her quest to be a famous actress. Just when she is on the brink of success her past comes back to derail things. All this with the backdrop of a serial killer in the city and how it's all connected. X was the over the top slasher, Pearl was a character study and origins of a killer and this one was more of a thriller. The story was fine but it felt a little out of place in relation to the other films. I was expecting a more over the top finish that what we got. I liked it but the other 2 were clearly better. Definitely worth a watch if you liked the other 2. In fact to understand the full scope I would say you need to watch the other movies. Solid finish but a bit of a let down after the other 2. "not much gore or kills in this 3rd install . It appears to be more about the scenic view of the 80s, very on point aesthetics down to the styrofoam mcdonalds containers. I loved watching Kevin Bacon playing the seedy PI, he chewed up the scenery throughout. The very effeminate AA guy wearing Judas Priest tees & riding a skateboard was never a thing in the 80s, & looked out of place here. The lift Max used to go to house in the hills party was used in 8 million ways to die movie back in the 80s, starring Jeff Bridges. I enjoyed seeing the backlots & sound stages also. 3 1/2 stars rating "
"I'm kind of conflicted with how I feel about this movie. There's things that I thought were done well and things that weren't. The acting was really great, especially from Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon. I also really enjoyed how Ti West shot this film. The kill scenes in this movie are *chef's kiss*. My biggest gripes in this movie are the writing and story. I cared little for the plot and thought there were big plot holes throughout the movie. I also didn't care too much for Maxine's character, the film didn't explain her motives and had very little substance. Overall, I think this is my least favorite entry in the X series, but it is still enjoyable watch. "
