Peter Parker is an outcast high schooler abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors, his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

"I never watched this as a kid, as I just loved Tobey's rendition so much and I refused to give anyone else a chance. I am happy to say years later, this movie was a lot better than I expected. Andrew Garfield makes a great Spider-Man, but not necessarily a good Peter. It's the opposite issue the Raimi trilogy has. The Spider suit is easily the best we have ever gotten, the way it looks and reacts to the environment is very impressive. It's not my favorite movie, but it's definitely worth your time. "

"4.75/5*s
I loved this movie. Garfield plays a very funny and engaging Peter Parker. This goes back to the comics and has his first love, Gwen Stacy as his love interest. If you've read the comics, you know how that pans out but I won't spoil it for you if you haven't.
I love Andrew's chemistry with Emma Stone. (I love her in everything she does!) At the time of my first viewing of this movie, I was not a fan of Garfield. I didn't find him even slightly attractive. After watching him in this, I think he's very good looking and probably my favorite take on Peter Parker.
I think this is my favorite Spider-Man movie of all. I completely loved it."
"I never watched this until now. It's better than what the spider man Community would you like you to believe. It is drastically different from Tobeys version & people don't like change.
The beginning is jarring & they actually dive into Peter's bio parents which isn't done often. Yet that gave it a unique perspective other spider man shows never do.
Then there's the lighting. So many times you think your brightness is down or worse because they don't want to light a dark scene. You can still let us see what's going on though. It's ridiculous & sadly a problem of the time that the movie came out in.
As for Peter, he's definitely a loner now. He also is way more in touch with his darker side. Which does make the inevitable spider man quips seem out of place making them less impactful. Yet he's still got some funny lines.
Then theres Uncle Ben & Aunt may. In fact, the grieving process is kind of glossed over once the final half of the movie happens, including Aunt May. Shes just kind of there, in this movie.
Now what makes it amazing. Flash. Every moment with him makes sense. He feels real & that moment of him going to Peter after Uncle Ben was tear jerking. You can tell he wanted to help Peter. Forget real, that was touching.
Then there's the Stacey family. They are a welcome addition to the franchise. The normal dynamic there truly clashes and meshes with Peter's, making the differences & similarities stand out. Plus, Gwen is awesome & the police chief father offers a special negative opinion on Spider-Man. Having them fight felt real & authentic, like Peter would have that conversation.
Overall, a unique perspective on our lovely Peter Parker. It made the movie worth watching because it wasn't trying to remake the original or a tv show. It was truly just being itself. The Amazing Spider Man. Those obsessed with the rom-com spider man or others will hate on it. But it's not bad. Besides, I'm a sucker for Gwen Stacey. & that crane moment at the end, pure gold."
"This movie really shines when Andrew Garfeild and Emma Stone are on screen. The Lizard himself is great, but his plan is messy. This is just an amazing film."
