"This might be the greatest animated film of all time. Beautiful… absolutely beautiful. No matter how far CGI comes nothing can beat hand drawn animation. The scene where Kaguya has the realization of her position and runs away is breathtaking. This film is Isao Takahata’s Magnum Opus and might be Studio Ghibli’s best work. Movie lovers, anime fans, animation buffs, fantasy geeks, adults, children, anyone who loves stories should watch this film. You won’t be disappointed. "
"This movie feels like a hug from a loved one while you’re wrapped in a weighted blanket. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya highlights the unparalleled beauty of hand drawn animation. Instead of coloring the skies and distant landscapes blue or green or pink, they’re intentionally left white—creating a dream-like universe that you don’t want to leave.
I’m slowly making my way through all the Studio Ghibli movies and this is aesthetically and thematically one of my favorites."
