"By no means a masterpiece, with basic plots. However, it IS a best seller for a reason. It's a perfect introduction into reading with a fairly low reading level - if you're rusty, in middle school, or just want something simple to read, this series is perfect. You'll fall in love with the characters and learning their way of life. Even if you're past middle school, I recommend reading at least once - a bit hard to adjust to the lower reading level at first, but well worth putting aside your own expectations to simply enjoy it. The writing style is strong in descriptions of landscape, and includes details of the cats body language and way of life, thus taking advantage of being about cats. It also has some world building in the form of culture and religion, which plays a major role in the plot. It's weak in complex plots and has plenty of plot holes which don't make sense if you're used to more complexity, but it's worth putting that aside to enjoy the overall story and follow along with the characters."
