In New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole’s sizzling series, a fierce werewolf and a bewitching vampire become unlikely soul mates whose passion will test the boundaries of life and death. After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he’s waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. Emmaline Troy is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him. Sheltered Emmaline finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents—until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae—and their notorious dark desires—ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings. Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

"Was nearly a DNF for me but I’m stubborn and try to finish every book that I start— and I’m glad because the last quarter of the book was my favorite part, but that isn’t saying much. I hated Lachlain as a love interest, specifically how he continuously violated Emmaline’s boundaries and took advantage of her lack of experience, at times venturing into the realm of questionable consent or even non-consent. Worldbuilding was fun but felt heteronormative at times. Won’t be continuing the series."
"<a href="http://laughinglistener.com/"><br/>The Laughing Listener</a><br/><b>October 2018</b><br/><b>Format:</b> Audiobook<br/><b>Narrator:</b> Robert Petkoff<br/><b>Length:</b> 11 hours & 30 minutes<br/><br/><b>Story Rating:</b> 3 Stars<br/><b>Performance Rating:</b> 5 Stars<br/><b>Overall Rating:</b> 3 Stars<br/><br/>This was cute! Without giving away spoilers, I was more than a little concerned about the relationship dynamic in the beginning and where it was going. But Emma gets Lachlan to wake up and back the hell off and it was a lot better after that.<br/><br/><img src="https://media.giphy.com/media/xUe1U7HvgT2oVHpqUr/giphy.gif" width="" height="" alt="GET OFF MY ASS gif"><br/><br/>I really enjoyed these characters and watching their relationship grow, even if Emma got on my nerves a little sometimes. This also felt a little too long, especially compared to the first book, but I still had fun listening to it.<br/><br/>And major shout out to my guy Robert Petkoff who did an amazing job narrating. The various voices he does for each character are freaking awesome and his accents are out of this world! Highly recommend this audiobook if you’re looking for a fun listen.<br/><br/><b>FINAL WORD</b><br/><br/>Cute!! I loved this and I’m loving these books! It’s an easy, fun way to pass the time and I can’t wait to keep going in the series."
