Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller From the New York Times bestselling author and cohost of chart-topping true crime podcast Morbid comes the thrilling book two in her national bestselling series, told from the dueling perspectives of a notorious serial killer and a medical examiner seeking justice. Destruction follows the ruthless serial killer, Jeremy Rose, the Bayou Butcher, as he heads north to evade capture for his horrific crimes. As he seeks safe harbor with a former friend, he remains focused on unfinished business with forensic pathologist Dr. Wren Muller, the only target who's ever escaped him--twice. But not this time. He's determined to make Wren suffer, and he's promised to make her play by his own twisted rules. Still in shock over the harrowing encounter with her old nemesis, Wren is on forced medical leave in New Orleans, attempting to mend the deep scars of her traumatic past. But with growing evidence that Jeremy is leaving a fresh trail of mutilated victims across Massachusetts, Wren realizes the best way to heal is to renew her pursuit of this vicious killer. She sets her sights on Jeremy, only to discover that she may have walked directly into his trap. As their twisted cat-and-mouse game rachets up to a violent clash of good versus evil, Wren prepares to sacrifice everything to bring Jeremy to justice. With intense true-to-life details from autopsy technician and Morbid podcast cohost, Alaina Urquhart, The Butcher Game is a gripping addition to the New York Times bestselling Dr. Wren Muller series.

"I wanted to love this book! I enjoyed the first one, and I’m a fan of Morbid podcast. But this one was not for me. It’s beautifully written and incredibly descriptive. Almost poetic. But that’s not really my style. I tried listening at a faster speed to get it over with, but at 65% I couldn’t finish the audiobook. Sorry, Alaina! "

"Jeramy continues his murderous ways and Wren is having horrible nightmares about him knowing he is still out there. He’s hunting and trying to bait her to him so he can finish the job he meant to complete when Wren was supposed to die. He’s twisted, heartless, and sick in the head. Wren needs to find him and stop him before he kills more innocent women."

"As the highly anticipated second book in the Butcher & Wren series, The Butcher Game had a lot to live up to after the gripping first installment. While I still enjoyed many aspects of the story, it unfortunately didn’t hit the mark for me in the way I had hoped. The pacing felt slower, and while the characters are still compelling, the plot lacked the same tension and intensity that made the first book so captivating.
The continuation of Jeremy and Wren's story promised to deliver a thrilling conclusion, but instead, I found the narrative a bit predictable at times. There were moments of suspense, but they didn’t fully pull me in the way I expected, especially after the high stakes of the first book. I was hoping for a more gripping, heart-pounding conclusion to their journey, but it didn’t quite reach that level of urgency.
That being said, Alaina Urquhart’s writing still shines with her signature dark, atmospheric style, and the character development remains strong. I also appreciated the deeper exploration of the psychological aspects of both Wren and Jeremy’s minds. While this book didn't fully meet my expectations, I think fans of the first book will still find enjoyment here, even if it doesn't have the same edge-of-your-seat excitement.
Overall, The Butcher Game is a solid follow-up, but it just didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. I’m still looking forward to where the series goes next! AND I AM VERY HAPPY TO OWN THIS SIGNED COPY! Thank you Alaina! "

"Sooo good!!! I am sad wrens husband Richard died. <br/><br/>It starts with giving an update on where Wren is in the healing process. Jeremy has escaped and she has no idea where he is. She doesn’t want to be involved. She is thrust back into it when victims start turning up in Massachusetts. The same place Phillip tradeu is. He was childhood friends with Jeremy but hasn’t spoken to him in a long time. He’s now a pastor and family man. It alternates between wren and Jeremy. Jeremy is in Massachusetts killing people. He showed up to Phillip’s house and threatens his family if he doesn’t help him lie low. Phillip is freaked out and helps him. <br/>You find out in the end something isn’t right with Phillip. They go to where Richard and wren are staying and you think Jeremy kills Phillip but you find out it was Jeremy. Jeremy is also bad. I didn’t understand if he killed people too or if he kills people’s souls by taking girls in the congregation. Maybe more in the next book? Phillip didn’t want Jeremy there and didn’t like that Jeremy threatened him so he goes to the police and flips on Jeremy. Jeremy sees the error in his ways in the end and wants revenge. The book ends with Jeremy in jail and wren trying to heal. Larue shows up at her door and tells her to read the autopsy and says he doesn’t think Jeremy acted alone and something was up with Phillip. She agrees to talk to Jeremy in jail. Stay tuned!<br/>"

"I think this would be great for someone who likes grusum details. It made me squirm. I wanted to love this so much becasue I love Alaina, but I think I have to accept that this series is just not for me. It's great writing though and the story had me enthralled at the end. Though I'm disappointed with a surprising loss...I couldn't believe that was real. "
