"If you are on book tok at all (which I DEFINITELY am), you are at least somewhat familiar with ACOTAR, even if you haven’t read this. This being said, I knew quite a bit about the book series (mostly about the romantic relationships) without having ever picked up the novel, so I thought I had a pretty accurate idea of what to expect going in. I even thought that the hype wasn’t going to live up to the actual story. I was wrong. First of all, I LOVED Feyre. She was stubborn, strong, independent, extremely independent and honestly, not as much of a Mary-Sue character as I thought she’d be. I was really anticipating a Bella Swan type personality, but she pleasantly surprised me. I also loved the juxtaposition of her being the youngest sister and the provider for her family. It made her so interesting right from the start. Now, for the love interests. I already knew going in that eventually I would hate Tamlin and love Rhysand throughout the course of the series, but would feel the opposite about them in this book but… Even if I hadn’t known this detail going in, I don’t think I would have been team Tamlin. He seemed TOO perfect and I didn’t feel the chemistry two people madly in love should have between him and Feyre. While I didn’t immediately like Rhysand (he did some real sketch things, especially at the beginning), he definitely intrigued me and I was eager to learn more about his character. His and Feyre’a chemistry was also obvious so I’m excited to see it develop into this die hard ship everyone loves. There’s really a lot to love about this book: the writing style, the complex world (a lot easier to understand than Crescent City), and the dynamic characters, and beauty and the beast-esque plot. It was all my cup of tea. Can’t wait to read the next book!"

"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS* This was really good. I took literally a whole month to read it but I had other priorities to deal with, which sucked. I've been contemplating to read this series for over 3 years now and I'm glad I finally bought it and read the first one. Coming into it, I knew that it was beauty and the beast retelling, yet I would read it and literally say "This sounds very familiar." LOL. I've read her Crescent City novels and I've got to say this was very YA writing, which to me wasn't badly written. I actually loved the way this story was unfolding, the world building was very easy to follow and I didn't feel like it was being thrown out in my face every 5 seconds. Nesta seemed like a true snob but I could see almost everything behind that hard exterior. She cares for her family, and probably would do anything for them...probably. Based on all the edits, tiktoks, spoilers that I've seen, it did not prepare me for RHYSAND!! Why didn't anybody tell me he was the BAD GUY?!? After everything I've seen, read, I honestly thought he was the good guy from the beginning of the series but boy was I wrong! Thanks alot guys, thanks alot. That was good plot twist for me lol. Tamlin is good person though, he does care for Feyre and she him. But honestly why couldn't she say "I love you" the first time he said it to her?! Like everything else could've been avoided if she said it. I noticed that these fae's really enjoy using the word "fool" alot. Lucien was kind of a good guy from the start but he grew on me. I really enjoyed his sarcasm. What she went through sucked, I felt extremely bad for her, but I couldn't help laughing when she talked about her bowel movements going watery, I cracked up😂. I feel like Rhysand was starting to like Feyre a bit more every time he was around her. I mean he basically got jealous when tamlin and her "snuck away", even though he claimed it was to save them both. Sure Rhysand sure😏.(continued onto next comment)"
"This was entertaining enough and incredibly predictable, but I don't think that really matters in a book that is mostly world building. Its a mix of YA fantasy romance and thinly veiled erotica. The main character never faces any real consequences or judgment for her actions. Honestly, I haven't seen this much plot armor on a character ever. I'm only continuing onto the next book because the only character I found interesting plays a larger roll in the sequel"
