"4.5⭐
I really enjoyed this book! It was such an easy read and very fast paced! Enemies to lovers, witch x witch hunter, forced marriage! Lou is so funny and sarcastic, I loved her! I also loved how sweet Reid was with her! Definitely looking forward to reading book two! 10/10 would recommend!!"
"2nd Reread.<br/><br/>While listening to the audiobook again I was reminded of how much I loved this book. The main characters were entertaining. Lou like a spitting panther and Reid the ever flustered saint. <br/><br/>I highly recommend this if you are a fan of A Court of Thorn and Roses. It gave off very similar vibes even though immensely different. Lou and Reid were amazing. I loved watching them grow and change throughout. Lou a foul mouth witch and Reid an innocent God fearing witch hunter....need I say more. <br/><br/>I laughed so much at the dialogue as Lou sang crude bar songs and corrupted the righteous men around her. Between Lou and Reids banter, I could not get enough. I lived for those scenes. Honestly a flustered Reid was the best part of the story.<br/><br/>Question game: <br/><br/>Lou- "Biggest pet peeve?<br/>Reid- "Swearing. You?"<br/>Lou- "Kill joys"<br/><br/>The writing style flowed well and was easy to read, engaging. While I'm not accustom to French it made the audiobook sound very ornate and beautiful. I thought the narrators Holter Graham and Saskia Maarieveld did an amazing job. Holter always has away of bring characters to life and forcing you to love them.<br/><br/>I enjoyed this plot and the world surrounding. Before I knew it I bonded with the characters even getting that feeling I haven't felt in awhile. The nagging to read all of this in one day but also slow down to make the feeling last longer. <br/><br/>The different powers was compelling to read about and I'm interested to know of other covens and the way they source their magic. I hope this will be more explained in the sequel. Also the narrative never dragged which was nice. The only segment that threw me off was the outburst song to distract at the end. It took all the seriousness out of the air and derailed me while reading. So I hesitate to complain about this because it was the only part but highly irregular.<br/><br/>I want to keep rambling on about Lou and Reid. There relationship was refreshing. They made me laugh then broke my heart. Reid's character development was enjoyable. Lou with her sailor mouth and free spirit. They just fit together so well and I wanted to continue spending time with them."
"The concept of the book was absolutely awesome! I really enjoyed following the intimate relationship between the prey and hunter. It was wonderful to see how they began to understand each other and turn their initial hatred, which was based on incomplete knowledge, into love and protection. However, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed with the ending of the book. It just didn't have the same quality as the rest of the story and didn't leave me thrilled to read the next two books."
"The world building in this book is incredibly immersing. Everything was explained in an interesting way without information dumps which was great because it meant the book took off with a running start! The romance; A++. Enemies to lovers is probably my favorite romance trope and it was executed perfectly in SERPENT & DOVE. I loved the bickering between Lou and Reid because neither character took it too far. The heroine, Lou, was an amazing and independent woman who took no crap and dished out swear words like they were candy on Halloween. I’m always here for a woman who doesn’t care what people think about her! Finally, that ending definitely left me hanging and I can’t wait for BLOOD & HONEY!"
