It's a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you're ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary. In book one of this debut series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride. But when Rowley's star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend's newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion.

"I'll be honest with you, I only settled to reading this after seeing the protag in a FnF mod lol.
Still, this was a fun, breezy little read. I don't see why so many readers complain about Greg being mean to be honest. He's a kid. Kids are mean little pricks.
Can't say I'd read the rest of the books, but I didn't have a bad time either.

All in all, pretty enjoyable! Glad to get it out of my back.
Be sure to read it if you want to regress for a bit, in a fun way, to how school used to be."

"The end when it doesn't say what happened to Rowley but it gives you hints would have to be my favorite part. "

"Ngl, the only reason I bumped up my rating is probably that I wasn't paying much attention to the audiobook."
