Welcome to Melissa Albert's The Hazel Wood—the fiercely stunning New York Times bestseller everyone is raving about!Seventeen-year-old Alice and her mother have spent most of Alice’s life on the road, always a step ahead of the uncanny bad luck biting at their heels. But when Alice’s grandmother, the reclusive author of a cult-classic book of pitch-dark fairy tales, dies alone on her estate, the Hazel Wood, Alice learns how bad her luck can really get: Her mother is stolen away—by a figure who claims to come from the Hinterland, the cruel supernatural world where her grandmother's stories are set. Alice's only lead is the message her mother left behind: “Stay away from the Hazel Wood.”Alice has long steered clear of her grandmother’s cultish fans. But now she has no choice but to ally with classmate Ellery Finch, a Hinterland superfan who may have his own reasons for wanting to help her. To retrieve her mother, Alice must venture first to the Hazel Wood, then into the world where her grandmother's tales began—and where she might find out how her own story went so wrong.Don’t miss the bestselling sequel to The Hazel Wood, The Night Country or the illustrated collection of twelve fairy tales, Tales from the Hinterland!

"Definitely not what I thought it would be. I got a lot of creepy fae vibes from this book in a good way. Always remember you have to say precisely what you mean when making a bargain. It took a good length of time to get to Hazel wood but was still something creeping around every corner and you got to watch Alice slowly become herself. I loved all the Harry Potter references haha and also getting to read some of the stories from her Grandmothers book. I was kind of sad you didn't get to hear the 3-times story though which was really significant but will maybe be in the next book I hope. This was a great read for October I was surprised at the sinister atmosphere this being a YA book. Just really surprised at the twist and turns, not what I thought. It was very refreshing."
"I loved this book. It was a magical book and it was fun to read. I sorta hate that Finch stayed in the Hinterlands. I think that doesn’t make sense because he knows that it’s a twisted fantasy not at all like how he thought. I think it was random and only so Alice and him wouldn’t end up together. I liked the book as a total but the end was sorta anticlimactic and awkward in some areas. "
"LOVED this book! I loved even more so learning that there’s a book #2. "
