Where do you go when nowhere is safe? After a deadly virus wiped out most of Earth's population, the world is a terrifying place. Eighteen-year-old Eve has never been beyond the heavily guarded perimeter of her school, where she and two hundred other orphaned girls have been promised a bright future in The New America. But the night before graduation, Eve learns the shocking truth about her school's real purpose—and the horrifying fate that awaits her. Fleeing the only home she's ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Caleb slowly wins her trust . . . and her heart. But when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.

"I haven't read too many dystopian style novels. I didn't have others to influence if I liked this or not and now I am happy. I did like it. I thought the story was very interesting and something that could happen. Girls are being used for broodmares after a plague devastates the world. Not only that, but the sacrifices Eve had to make in order to gain her freedom. <br/><br/>The reason behind Eve being hunted relentlessly took me by surprise. You'll have to read it to find out exactly what I mean, but it made for an interesting dynamic when trying to capture poor Eve.<br/><br/>The romance in this was nice. Eve was raised to think all men or boys are evil but Caleb proves different. I had a lot of hopes, still do, for the two of them. The ending of the book left my heart aching just a little. Eve was a great adventure. Hope just around the corner, unlikely friendships are made and love is rediscovered. I can't wait to see what happens in the rest of this trilogy."
"<strong>Great read. </strong><br/><br/>I had this on my to be read list for so long. I forgot why I even added it. It finally came off hold on my library and I devoured it in two nights. <br/><br/>Great writing, great plot. I didn’t feel like it slowed down at all. It was one thing after another.. twists, turns. Great story. Easy read. <br/><br/>I think if I had to compare it would say and young adults handmaidens tale. It follows along the same lines but it is still a unique story and from a different perspective."
"Didn't have my hopes up when starting this book as originally was just looking for a light YA novel and boy was I surprised! Firstly this is definitely not a light read and deals with some pretty dark theme but honestly I cannot wait to read the second book. Secondly when I started I did not like the main character much but luckily as the story went on she seemed to grow but still makes some pretty dumb decisions. Overall would definitely recommend this book."
