"Disclaimer: I listened to the audio books narrated by the incredible Simon Vance. The Light bringer Chronicles as a whole tells a wonderful story centered on an incredibly engaging and unique magic system. None of the characters feel like they gain anything unearned or use their magic as a get out of jail free card. My biggest gripe tends to be the Judeo-Christian inserts and minor misogyny which seem to underpin a lot of works by this author."
"The magic system is different in this story than i have ever seen and it was hard to grasp at first. This may throw most people off the story but it is worth continuing to the end. The main character, Kip starts off as a pudgy loser, he doesn’t go through a five minute montage to make him great. Instead it takes most of the series to pound him into shape to become the hero of the story. I know this may not sound too great but the story has another main character, his father, who is the most powerful magic user in the world and there is great depth to this character with many twists and turns before the end. It was a great story and i’m glad in the end that i read it all. "
