"the only thing that got me through this book is that it was short."

"I liked it, it’s a coming of age story about realizing where true happiness comes from. As well as the temptation of power and evil all told through a girl who’s given a magic box that gives her a perfect life with the consequence of responsibility and that with the wrong ownership the box does atrocious things. It was short and pretty laid back for most of the book. It was still fairly captivating, and the climax takes you by surprise and throws you out of the relaxed state the rest of the book puts you in. I’ll probably check out Chizmar and read some of his other stuff. Solid solid read. I’ll definitely finish the series. 4/5 stars. "

"Who knew a modern take on Pandora's Box would be this captivating? I tore through all three of these books in two days and could not put them down. Somehow the story manages to balance the banal troubles of a young girl with a very real and very palpable sense of danger just below the surface. "

"Gwendy Peterson is given the gift of a button box from a stranger named Mr. Farris when she is in middle school. It dispenses chocolate shaped like animals (no 2 are ever the same) and every time she eats one, she doesn't crave sweets. Gwendy's life only gets better from here, only the button box calls to her on occasion. A really great story of how this girl grows up, friendship, and first loves."
