"I mean, this wasn't the worst thing I've ever read, but it was still pretty bad. The MC might as well have been a 13 year old Mary Sue with how she acted. She even ran away to the circus! The love interest was your typical toxic alpha male who kidnapped the MC, threatened her friends, stalks her for weeks, and was surprised that she didn't immediately throw herself at him. The use of a real-world religion was incredibly lazy on the authors part, and could have been fixed with a random name generator. "
"oh dang my return to the fantasy genre was so good. I could not put this book down! it’s spicy, action-packed and has greek mythology! whew just everything I love in a book! the enemies to lovers we get with Cat and Griffin is just so good! they are both annoyingly stubborn but hehe it’s so good sometimes! anyways i’m gonna go read the next one now!"
"2.75 star

From the very first page, I wanted to love this story. I stuck in there I tried to overlook things but in the end, it just fell flat. Honestly, maybe the kidnapping ruined it. Not that I don't mind the trope it just felt out of place here. Cat was smart and capable and if given a chance to explain they probably could have persuaded her. Instead, they took her against her will and said she would comply once she understood. Oh, he kidnapped you but he is a good guy no worries.

Page 1 the Warlord came into view and I could not keep count of the times his physique was described. I think I started to skip paragraphs at some point. Cat was sassy and skilled. I loved her character and the dynamic between her and the crew. But she was inconsistent. Cat was often a prisoner and then suddenly a confidant then a prisoner again. She did a lot of barking and very little biting.

Since I've been griping so much I'm unsure why I read this in the first place but it had promise. The relationships were interesting and the banter was nice until it started to get overused. Everything started to feel forced and when I think about it, it was forced from the beginning. The author seemed to throw out the name of God's and their creatures like it was parade candy. And I don't even want to bring up how many internal Gag! and Gahs! there were.

Seriously I read this and it's difficult to remember what I liked about it. I mean I can drop a book without question if I don't want to read it. Yet I kept trying and I don't know why. I just felt it had potential and was hoping something would swoop in and save it. There were mountains of inner turmoil, convenient powers, and not enough substance. Near the end of the book, I gave up and started scanning the pages."
"Great series and this book is so sweet and fun. "

"It’s not good. There’s so many plot holes, and it’s a story where the MCs only have good, infallible ideas. I know it’s fictional but the people don’t feel real. They don’t ask the obvious questions that are RIGHT THERE. Also, the combination of using “Alpha” and “Beta” as governing titles is incredibly off putting, but that’s my opinion. To top it off, the MC supposedly had two definitive magical abilities, but somehow by the end of it she had like 4? Make it make sense. I didn’t think the banter was good, not enough context was given for the conflict (specifically why magoi hate the Hoi Polloi so much), occasionally I got second hand embarrassment from some of the characters. It’s a hot mess of issues. There’s much better enemies to lovers books out there"
