"I like a strong storyline, to me this book had a very weak one. I found it repetitive and boring. I hate giving a negative review and I very rarely do but I wanted to be honest "

"This wasn’t my favorite. I definitely had a bit of an ick with the way he talked to her sometimes. I also hated the back and forth. Will they or won’t they. It was almost like whiplash towards the end. It’s a fast and easy read for romance readers though. "

"I liked the story, but after a while the sex was just whatever. I need to fill space in the story so let's add some scenes here or there. Got old after a while 🤷‍♀️"

"tbh i liked this one better, he’s my favorite bell brother. i guess i always did like the bad boy. as a person with a very complicated history with religion and god, and a person that spent a long time angry at god, i think this book depicts the anguish and grief of losing someone dear to you and how that completely changes your worldview in every aspect of it. "

"I made the mistake in reading this after priest thinking it was the 2nd book in the trilogy. Thankful this story follows a different perspective and hopefully I didn’t ruin the way Simone intended to tell the story. Despite my mistake I did not regret reading this! Just as hot as the first book but a bit more emotional. I truly love how she writes in the perspective of men and even tho this is a fictional story I can’t help but look at the idea of religion differently. "

"Honestly, I enjoyed reading this for the most part.<br/><br/>But I had a few issues:<br/><br/>Hero was bitter and whined a lot about "God." Which I found irritating. <br/><br/>Because it wasn't clear, from the beginning,<br/><br/>whether he "hated" God, which would mean he believes in God,<br/><br/>or whether he "didn't believe" in God, which would mean he's an atheist,<br/><br/>or whether he just "didn't WANT to believe" in God, which would still makes him religious but just bitter about it,<br/><br/>Or whether he DID believe in God...?<br/><br/>I hated every time he complained about how awful God is to let all these things happen to him, but went on into the next scene to flat out say he didn't believe in God...<br/><br/>Huh?<br/><br/>What?!<br/><br/>I mean, man, which is it!?<br/><br/>Do you, or do you not believe in God? <br/><br/>It's one or the other... can't be both.<br/><br/>The love story was good. Not great. It could have been better. There could have been more at stake, I think.<br/><br/>For example, the heroine should have been a full nun, not someone who was ABOUT to become a nun... Just like in the previous book where the male character was a FULL priest.<br/><br/>I just think Sierra could have done more with this story, but she opted not to.<br/><br/>I will give this a 2.5 star because I love the writing. Sierra's writing is always up to par with that.<br/><br/>I just didn't like how limited the story felt and didn't like one of the characters very much. He was very confused, so as a reader, I was also left confused, and not in the good/suspenseful way you're supposed to feel when you're reading, lol.<br/><br/>Also, Sidenote and a PSA to authors who want to write black heroines. That's great. That's awesome. Love that, and I will always pick up a romance book with a black heroine.<br/><br/>But please, please, please, I beg. Stop making racism a thing whenever the heroine is black.<br/><br/>I do not care for a racism storyline/plot/scene etc.<br/><br/>I do not want it in my romance books!!<br/><br/>I just want to read about the heroine falling in love, just like the gazillions whites heroines get to.<br/><br/>Racism is so cringe. Stop putting it, talking about it in romance books, especially when the heroine is black.<br/><br/>(This is about a scene in this book wherein the heoine experiences racism/microagression or whatever.)<br/><br/>Please stop putting this racism **** in romance books.<br/><br/>Just let my heroine be black and fall in love in peace."

"I actually don’t really have anything to say about this book other than I definitely loved it. I love the way she portrays the characters and their beliefs. I love the way this perfectly articulates what a slow-burn romance is. I loveee the way this is kind of a friends with benefits novel, and how they eventually grow to be something more towards the end of the novel."
